It’s about time we wrote something on here…

2011, for us, was probably our most influential and progressive year as being together in a band.

Playing shows up and down the country alongside some fantastic bands, some including the likes of Little Comets, Danananakayrod & Billy Bragg showed us how lucky we were to be doing what it is we do. Playing at the South-West Music Awards in November was also a giant eye opening for us (check out “angry man south west awards” on youtube for further details, ha!) As well as this we also had the great honour of appearances/airplay on a host of different radio stations, some including BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Devon. We also recorded our second EP Dark Room which was so much fun to make and has now received air play and acclaim all over the world from England & the rest of Europe, to America and even South Africa. To all you people who have tuned into your radios, bought a CD, “downloaded” our tracks or payed money to come see us, thank you thank you thank you! With out you this wouldn’t all be worth it.

But as the year has now changed, so has our line up. Luke and Si both left due to work related reasons. As gutted as we were in the sense of what we’d achieved together and the future movement of the band, none more so we were with the fact that we were losing 2 of our closest friends of whom we’d shared so many amazing experiences with together. Thank you for all the memories and good luck in the future guys.

I can feel myself yabbering on here so let’s cut to the chase! So, with the departure of Si and Luke came the arrival of Toby & Robin! These guys played a few shows with us in the past with their previous band The Quincies and we’d always thought of them as close friends so when The Quincies split up it seemed only certain that we’d ask them to join. To our delight they said yes!

We’ve now just come out of Joss Stones recording studio in Plymouth where we were asked to record our new upcoming single Man Who Digs A Ditch. The release will be within the next couple months but you can watch our promo video for the single until then on our youtube channel www.youtube.com/TheBeaconsuk (yes, we know the beaconSUK! Not the perfect URL!)

We’re now looking forward to 2012, recording our new EP which is in the process at the moment and to a year of relentless touring, and hopefully, playing to a place near you!

As always, thanks for everything guys.

Love from me (Rob) and the rest of the band. X

Another acoustic track for you, this time an acoustic rendition of our song Too Busy.

A little acoustic version of Fair shot in our home town.

It was -4 degrees when we shot this, hypothermia is not fun…
